Miscellaneous Strategies
There are a number of other ways for the Internet entrepreneur to make money online as well.
Advertisements
Online advertising is big business, generating billions of dollars in revenue per year. Traditionally, advertisers have focused mainly on targeting big businesses with a large Internet presence. But over the past few years, many online advertisers have recognized a new opportunity at the small company and individual level as well.
Now you, as an Internet marketer, can reap the benefits by earning advertising income on your own small websites. Online advertisements can be implemented on practically any type of site that attracts even a low number of visitors, turning your traffic into dollars.
Publishing advertisements on your websites can be used to supplement any of the previously mentioned income-generating techniques, or it can be used in and of itself. Some Internet marketers make upwards of $10,000 per month in adverstisement income alone by utilizing it on extremely popular websites.
EBay
There’s actually a great way for you to sell your physical or information products online without the need to build your own website at all. Today, thousands of people make full-time incomes selling their wares on eBay.com. These eBay sellers, known as “power sellers,” have learned the principles of making big money through online auctions, often without even owning a website of their own. Drop Shipping
There is also a way to sell physical products online and transform it into a passive income stream. You seemingly sell your own physical products from your own website, but actually automate the process "behind the scenes" by using a concept called "drop shipping."
Drop shipping eliminates most of the concerns typically associated with selling physical products, such as storage, inventory, shipping, restocking, etc. Sometimes you don’t even have to think up your own physical product, just choose from a list of popular items for sale. You can even use drop shipping to power your eBay sales. Refer to our drop shipping article to get more information about drop shipping.
“Combined Arms” Tactics
One good overall strategy is to mix and match all the techniques you have at your disposal to maximize your income sources. “In the military, this is known as ‘combined arms,’” says business owner Alex Gonzales, a former U.S. marine. “Combined arms is an integration of differing arms, such as infantry and close air support, in such a way that they complement each other’s strengths. It’s just as effective in the business world.”
For example, you can sell drop-shipped gardening tools on Ebay and write an ebook about gardening to sell on your own website. You can recruit affilates to drive sales to your ebook site, then sign up as an affiliate yourself with an online store that sells seeds, building a second website that encourages customers to buy from that store. Finally, you can run advertisements on both your sites to bring in a final layer of income.
You can see the power of this type of Internet strategy, especially as you continue to build sites one after another. Over time, you can create exponential growth by involving hundreds or even thousands of people in your business through affiliate programs. You can leverage other people’s products and sales efforts to build a money-making machine.
The number of sites you can build is basically limited only by the time you’re willing to invest and your interest level. Over time, your goal should be to make most of your websites essentially self-sustaining, requiring only light-duty maintenance and generating passive income for as long as they are operational.
