Set Realistic Goals

In too many cases, once someone actually launches their own home-based e-business, they simply give up before really giving it an honest try. They push off from shore with great enthusiasm, but quickly give up when they are pounded by the initial waves, never reaching the smooth sailing that lies just beyond the crashing surf.

It’s also very common for beginners’ expectations to be too high at the beginning. The fact is, a home e-business requires work, dedication, and passion, just like any other business.

To avoid being an early-exit casualty, you actually need to set realistic stepping-stone goals for yourself. Make it your first month’s goal to make 1 dollar a day (even one dollar is a thrill when it’s your first sale). Then make 10 dollars a day. Then 100 dollars a day, which equals a hefty $3000 a month. Once you reach a certain target revenue, it's relatively easy to move onto a higher target.

If you set out to make $1,000 a day within the first month, you will quickly get disillusioned and quit within weeks. Always remember that you are building a long term business, not trying to get rich quick.

Don’t try to build 10 websites at once when you don’t even have one profitable site yet. For newcomers, it’s hard enough to manage the effort required by a single new website.

Don’t Give Up

Give your site at least three months of honest effort. Only when it’s making at least 300 dollars a month with minimal intervention and has a sufficient number of pages containing useful information, then move on to build your next site.

There is simply so much to learn when it comes to Internet marketing that, whether you choose to learn from recognized online marketing experts or learn on your own, there is always the danger of becoming paralyzed by an overwhelming amount of information.

Most successful people building an Internet marketing business do so in a very organized manner. They make sure that, no matter what, they work at least a few dedicated hours each day, with each hour of effort serving as a foundation stone for the long-term growth of their business.

Likewise, keep moving forward. Try to focus on determining the next immediate step you need to take, then take direct action. In this industry, there is a temptation to keep learning as much as you can before actually doing anything. I recommend you learn as you go, not learn before you go.

Starting a new business--any business--is never easy. Even though the amount of money you can make with Internet marketing truly is limited only by your own time and effort, it all still comes down to just how badly you want it.

The Perfect Home Business

Internet marketing is the closest thing to the perfect home business that we've seen yet. All you need is a computer, an Internet connection, some motivation, and a willingness to learn some new concepts and skills.

You can start part-time with minimum startup costs, with an earning potential limited only by the number of multiple passive income streams you decide to establish.

The other great advantage to this business is that you don't stand to lose much even in the worst-case scenario--perhaps a few hundred dollars at most. Name any other lucrative business where you can potentially make hundreds of thousands of dollars while risking only a few hundred of your own.

With Internet marketing, you can be in the black and profitable within the first few months. For comparison, consider opening a brick-and-mortar franchise where you are $200,000 dollars in debt from day one, and have to work for years before you are able to get in the black. And with the percentage of offline businesses that that fail after one year estimated to be higher than 80%, the e-business route eliminates the vast majority of monetary risk to you.
